ADAM MOCCIOLO: MPP 2001

I am a 2001 MPP graduate, and recently had the pleasure of serving as one of the co-organizers of my class’s 20-year virtual reunion. I currently serve as the president of the Harvard Club of Fairfield County, Connecticut, a large club covering a body of several thousand alumni from across all of Harvard’s schools, and I have served on the club’s board for 10 years. Professionally, I am an immigration and employment lawyer and a litigator with Akerman LLP’s New York City office. I represent people from around the globe immigrating to the U.S. as professionals, investors, and academics, as well as the companies, universities, and hospitals in which they work. In litigation, I have had the opportunity to work on cases with public policy implications for noncompete law and the payment card industry. I also volunteer in bar association and court capacities, and have previously served on the boards of the Cardinal Shehan Center, a youth community center in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the Discovery Museum & Planetarium in Bridgeport, and the World Affairs Forum in Stamford, Connecticut.

A recent move to working in New York City prompted me to volunteer for the HKS Alumni Network board. This is the first time since graduation that I have been regularly in a place where there is a dedicated alumni organization for the Kennedy School and a large group of HKS alums, and I am excited to connect with so many of our colleagues. I expect to contribute to planning and carrying off regular events with the same enthusiasm I have done for the other club, and perhaps even will be able to offer ideas for specific social events and programs that have resonated with another Harvard alumni audience. To start, I would particularly like to organize a program on developing changes in immigration law in the U.S. and the related election politics It is a topic that I imagine will be broadly interesting to a large portion of our alumni base regardless of their own professional fields, and one that likely offers compelling speakers within our own community
