Fatema Wassie: Membership Chair

Fatema is a Political Affairs Officer with the UN Security Council specialized in sanctions policy. She started her career in journalism in 2003, when she joined Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s media team, and served in UN management advising the General Assembly on peacekeeping policy. Prior to joining the UN, Fatema worked at the International Criminal Court, where she analyzed the political framework underpinning its jurisdiction. As Adviser to the Dutch Government, she pioneered its urban resilience policy programs. Before coming to HKS as a Mason Fellow, she studied Law and Political Science at the Universities of Leiden and Utrecht, and has held Board functions at the Netherlands Dance Theatre and other performing arts companies.
