piyush verma: Secretary

Piyush Verma is a Senior Governance Advisor – Energy at the United Nations Development Programme in New York. He spearheads the global agenda on effective energy governance across 170 countries. An accomplished energy and climate policy expert, he has worked on national energy policies in India, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Ireland, and the USA.

Recognized as a Global Future Energy Leader by the World Energy Council London in 2018, he led international projects and chaired the Joint Task Force on Digitalization in Energy at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

He holds degrees in electrical engineering, a Ph.D. in Energy Policy from The University of Auckland, New Zealand, and completed a Master's in Public Administration as an Edward S Mason Fellow from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
